The first choice you are asked to make is the basic type of door.
Choose if you want double or single. Top styles can be straight, eyebrow arch or full arch. Don't worry if it is not exactly what you want yet - there will be plenty of other options to choose from.
The Frame Options defines the width of the frame (The stiles and rails of the door). You can also choose a wide or narrow frame. The wide frame is about 6" (150mm) and narrow is about 3" (85mm). Both choices are equally durable and the choice is only one of personal taste.
Here you can also choose the type of Kick Panel you want - this is lower portion of the door under the window. You can choose various shapes - or to have no kick panel at all.
The Scrollwork / Lights design can be anything that is pleasing to you. We have many designs in our library or we can work from your sketch or picture. If you do not find what you like in the list of designs, choose the last option called "Alternative". Once selected you will see a new button on top left "Example Scrollwork / Lights". Click on that and you will be offered even more designs to review or the option to upload your own image. The image selected or uploaded will be shown in top left corner.
After we receive your order we will make CAD (engineering) drawings of your door using the example given. We will make sure you are completely happy with the final design before making your door.
The configuration panel lets you add sidelights and or a transom to your door. Various combinations and sizes are available depending on your type of door. If you doníŽt see what you want, choose something close to what you want. You will be able to adjust the exact size and design of the unit later.
Please note, you see the words "Matching Scrollwork / Lights TBD" in the sidelight or transom then it means we don't yet have a preview of that design. After you place your order we will create this design and supply you with engineering drawings for your approval. We will be sure you totally happy with the design before making your door.
Our finishes are all equally durable and the color is only to suit your taste. All our colors have a subtle metalic patina under the surface, like most automobiles, although the effect is subtle it does add depth and interest. All or finishes are a soft satin luster that fits perfectly with most other architectural elements.
Clear or textured glass allow in the same amount of light. Tinted glass allows in slightly less light. Both clear and tinted glass allow clear vision from inside and from outside. Also mirror tinted glass will prevent viewing from outside during the day but does not offer privacy at night with lights on inside. Textured glass offers privacy but also obsures the view from inside your home. All of our windows are made from tempered safety glass. Classic doors with separately opening windows have triple pane glass. Contempo and Eurostile doors have fixed windows with dual pane glass. All windows have argon gas in the spaces between the panes for maximum thermal efficiency.
Residential properties usually have in-swinging doors. Commercial properties usually have out-swinging doors.
Choose either a Cylindrical or Mortise lockset, or Pull handles with roller catches and deadbolt. A Mortise lockset with 2" backset can be installed in Contempo and narrow frame doors with no requirement for a 'bump out" in the stile.
Overall size and Rough Opening size: The door jamb and integral steel threshold adds 4" to the width and height of the overall unit. Additionally, to allow room for installation and adjustment, you will need a rough opening size about 3/4" larger than the overall unit size. See more information in our Door Measuring Guide and Installation Guide.
